A New Liner Changes Everything

A worn-out liner makes the whole pool look tired. Faded patterns, wrinkles along the walls, and that brittle feel when you step on the floor. Homeowners in Bay Shore, West Islip, and Babylon put off the replacement because they think it is a bigger job than it actually is. It is not. We handle the full process in a few days and the pool looks brand new when we are done.

We carry liners from Loop-Loc, Merlin, and Dever with over 100 patterns to choose from. Every liner gets custom measured and professionally installed. No guessing on fit. No wrinkles. No callbacks. Check our liner replacement service page for details on how the process works, or browse our full range of pool products.

Liner Options

Types of Pool Liners We Install

Every pool is different. Here are the three liner categories we work with most on Long Island.

Standard Vinyl Liners

A solid choice for most residential pools. Standard 20-mil vinyl liners offer reliable performance, flexible installation, and a wide selection of patterns and colors. They work well for homeowners across Islip, East Islip, and North Babylon who want a clean new look without overbuilding for the application.

Thick-Gauge Vinyl Liners

27-mil and 28-mil liners add real puncture resistance and hold up better under heavy use. Families with kids who are in the pool every day, dogs that swim, or pools with rough patio edges benefit from the extra thickness. The heavier material also resists chemical wear longer, which matters when you run the pool hard from May through September.

Custom-Pattern Liners

Loop-Loc Luxury Liners are the ones homeowners ask for by name. Tile borders, mosaic patterns, stone textures, and deep blue gradients that make the pool look like a resort. If the backyard is the centerpiece of your property, a custom-pattern liner from Loop-Loc turns the pool into the centerpiece of the backyard. Over 100 patterns available.

How We Replace a Pool Liner

The full replacement from drain to swim takes about 3 to 5 days depending on pool size and weather.

1

Drain and Inspect

We drain the pool safely and remove the old liner. Then we inspect every inch of the walls and floor for damage, rust spots, or uneven surfaces. Anything that needs fixing gets addressed before the new liner goes in. Skipping this step is how other companies end up with callbacks.

2

Measure and Install

Every liner we install is custom measured to your pool's exact dimensions. No off-the-shelf guessing. The liner gets set, vacuumed into place to remove all air pockets, and secured at the track. Proper vacuum fit is what prevents wrinkles and ensures the liner sits tight against the walls and floor.

3

Fill and Finish

We fill the pool, cut in the returns and skimmer faceplates, and check the entire liner for proper alignment and tension. By the time we leave, the pool is full, the equipment is running, and you are looking at a pool that looks like it was just built. We have been doing this on Long Island for 25 years.

Liner Lifespan

How Long Pool Liners Last on Long Island

Most vinyl pool liners last between 8 and 12 years. Some go longer with proper care. Some fail sooner if the water chemistry is off or the pool gets closed improperly over winter.

On Long Island, the freeze-thaw cycle between November and March is hard on liners. Ice expansion stretches the vinyl. Groundwater pressure can push against the floor if the pool is drained too low. That is why proper pool closing matters so much for liner life.

Sun exposure fades the pattern over time, especially on south-facing pools in Lindenhurst, Copiague, and Amityville that get direct sunlight all afternoon. Chemical imbalance, particularly low pH, makes vinyl brittle and accelerates cracking. Keeping your water balanced during weekly maintenance is the single best thing you can do to extend liner life.

Liner Care

How to Make Your Liner Last Longer

Balanced water chemistry is the single biggest factor in liner life. Keep your pH between 7.2 and 7.6. Keep chlorine levels steady. Avoid shock-dosing directly onto the liner surface because concentrated chlorine bleaches and weakens vinyl on contact.

Keep water levels consistent. A pool that drops below the skimmer line puts stress on the liner where it meets the wall. In winter, follow proper closing procedures and use a quality cover. Pools with Loop-Loc safety covers protect the liner from debris, UV exposure, and ice damage all off-season.

Signs It Is Time

When to Replace Your Pool Liner

Fading is the first sign. The color looks washed out compared to when it was new. Then wrinkles start forming along the walls and floor, especially near the steps. The vinyl feels thin or brittle when you walk on it. Small tears start showing up near fittings and returns.

If you are patching the liner more than once a season, replacement is the better investment. A leaking liner wastes water, damages the pool structure underneath, and costs more in the long run than a clean replacement. If your liner is showing these signs, call us or check our pool repair page.

Common Questions

Pool Liner FAQs

How do I know when my pool liner needs replacing?

Fading, wrinkles, brittle texture, and recurring leaks are the most common signs. If the liner is more than 8 years old and you are patching it regularly, replacement is usually the smarter investment. We inspect liner condition during maintenance visits and will give you an honest timeline.

Can I change my pool liner color or pattern?

Yes. A liner replacement is the perfect time to change the look of your pool completely. We carry over 100 patterns from Loop-Loc, Merlin, and Dever. Tile borders, stone textures, solid blues, tropical gradients. We bring samples to your home so you can see them against your actual patio and coping before you decide.

How long does a liner replacement take?

Most liner replacements take 3 to 5 days from drain to swim. That includes draining the pool, inspecting and prepping the walls and floor, installing the new liner, filling the pool, and starting up the equipment. Weather can extend the timeline by a day in some cases, but we schedule around the forecast.

Do thicker liners last longer?

Generally yes. A 27-mil or 28-mil liner resists punctures and chemical wear better than a standard 20-mil liner. The thicker material holds up longer under heavy use and is a good investment for families with kids and pets. That said, water chemistry and proper winterization matter more for overall lifespan than thickness alone.

How much does a pool liner replacement cost on Long Island?

Cost depends on pool size, liner thickness, pattern selection, and whether the walls or floor need any prep work. We provide a written quote after measuring your pool so there are no surprises. Call us at (631) 661-2342 to schedule a measurement and get current pricing.
