Shut Your Pool Down Right the First Time

A pool closing is not just throwing a cover on and walking away. Our crew blows out every plumbing line with a high-powered air compressor, plugs all returns and skimmers, disconnects and drains every piece of equipment, and treats the water with winterization chemicals. When we leave, your pool is sealed up and protected against whatever Long Island winter throws at it.

We close hundreds of pools every fall across Bay Shore, West Islip, Babylon, Lindenhurst, Deer Park, Islip, Brentwood, and the surrounding towns in Nassau and Suffolk County. Most closings happen between mid-September and late October. The earlier you book, the better your chances of getting the date you want before temperatures drop.

Why It Matters

What a Bad Pool Closing Costs You

Water left sitting in a plumbing line expands when it freezes. One cracked pipe underground can cost $1,500 or more to dig up and replace in the spring. A pump that was not drained properly? The housing splits. A heater with water still in the heat exchanger? That is a full replacement, not a repair.

Long Island winters are unpredictable. One week it is 50 degrees, the next it drops below freezing overnight. Pools that were closed late or closed halfway are the ones we see with the worst damage every spring. Cracked filter housings, blown-out plumbing fittings, and green water that takes weeks to recover.

A proper closing takes about two hours. Skipping it or cutting corners creates problems that take weeks and thousands of dollars to fix. The math is simple.

Our Process

How a Majestic Pool Closing Works

Three phases, one visit. We show up prepared and leave your pool sealed for winter.

1

Blow Out and Plug

Every plumbing line gets purged with a high-powered air compressor to force out all standing water. Return lines, skimmer lines, and main drain lines are all blown clean and plugged tight. This is the single most important step in preventing freeze damage.

2

Disassemble and Drain

The pump, filter, heater, and chlorinator are all disconnected and drained. Deck hardware comes off. Ladders, handrails, and the diving board get removed and stored. Nothing is left exposed to freezing temperatures.

3

Treat, Cover, and Seal

We add winterization chemicals including shock and winter algaecide to keep the water from turning green under the cover. The winter cover or safety cover goes on last. When we drive away, your pool is locked down until spring.

Why Majestic

Why Long Island Homeowners Trust Majestic for Pool Closings

25+ Years, Zero Shortcuts

We have been closing pools across Nassau and Suffolk County since the late 1990s. Our process has not changed because it works. Every line gets blown, every component gets drained, every time.

Freeze Damage Protection

The whole point of a closing is to prevent winter damage. Our crew does not leave until every plumbing line, pump, filter, and heater is fully drained and protected. That is why our spring callbacks for freeze damage are nearly zero.

Same Crew, Same Standard

Many of our closing clients are the same families we maintained all summer. The crew already knows your equipment, your plumbing layout, and what needs extra attention going into winter.

Timing

When to Schedule Your Pool Closing

Most Long Island pools close between mid-September and late October. The right timing depends on when you stop swimming and when nighttime temperatures start dropping toward freezing consistently. Close too early and you waste good swim days. Close too late and you risk a sudden freeze catching your pool unprotected.

Our fall calendar fills fast, especially in October. The best move is to call in August or early September to lock in your date. We will confirm your appointment and give you a heads up the week before we come out.

Year-Round Care

Bundle Your Closing with Seasonal Service

Most of our pool closing clients also use us for weekly maintenance through the summer and pool opening in the spring. The same crew that took care of your water all season is the same crew shutting it down for winter.

That matters because they already know your equipment age, your plumbing quirks, and anything that came up during the season. There is no learning curve. One company, one crew, from opening day through the last closing visit.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a pool closing cost on Long Island?
Pricing depends on pool size, equipment setup, and whether you have an attached spa. Most of our clients in Nassau and Suffolk County pay between $275 and $450 for a full closing with winterization chemicals included. Additional charges apply for extra pumps, filters, or a filter cleanout. Call us or fill out the form above for a number specific to your pool.
What month should I close my pool on Long Island?
Most Long Island pools close between mid-September and late October. The exact timing depends on when you stop swimming and when nighttime temperatures start dropping toward freezing. Waiting past early November is risky. A sudden cold snap can freeze exposed plumbing overnight and cause serious damage.
What happens if pool pipes freeze over winter?
Water expands when it freezes. If any water is left in a plumbing line, the pipe cracks. Underground pipe repairs can run $1,500 or more depending on the location and depth. That is why blowing out every line with a high-powered compressor is the most important part of a proper closing. It removes the water so there is nothing left to freeze.
Do I need to supply my own winter cover?
We install whatever cover you have. For vinyl winter covers, you need to supply the water bags. We carry extra bags if you need them at an additional charge. If you have a Loop-Loc safety cover, we install that as part of the closing. If your cover is damaged or you need a new one, we can help with that too.
Can you close a pool with an attached spa?
Yes. Attached spa winterization is included in our standard pool closing service. The spa plumbing gets blown out and plugged just like the pool lines. Jets, returns, and any spa-specific equipment are all drained and secured for winter.
